Indiana Student Loans
The State Student Assistance Commission of Indiana is one of the United
States top-ranked state financial aid agencies. The SSACI’s mission is
to make college affordable to need-based students, allow students
collegiate choices by offering financial awards, and increasing college
preparation by giving additional grants to students graduating from high
school with Core 40 and Academic Honors Diplomas.
The SSACI also strives to promote awareness of Indiana financial
assistance programs by providing counselor workshops, financial aid
planning meetings, college fairs and other community and statewide
events.
As with Federal Student Aid, the SSACI’s award program revolves around
the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Indiana students
seeking assistance from the state must first fill out the FAFSA. The
FAFSA can be filed via paper form or online. Applications filed through
the federal Web site are generally processed faster and yield quicker
award results.
There are other student aid programs offered outside of the SSACI that
students may need to consider in order to cover all of their collegiate
expenses. These options include the Federal Pell Grant, Federal Stafford
Loan, and Indiana student loan.

Students who exhaust their scholarship and U.S. Department of Education
student aid options can also turn to outside lenders for
private student loans.
