National Student Loan Program
The National Student Loan Program or NSLP is a national student loan guarantor with a mission to provide loan guarantee and student loan related services to the financial aid community and the student loan industry.
The NSLP is a top 10 national student loan guaranty agency with a strong Midwestern work ethic and dedication to service. They are a non-profit guaranty agency with freedom from Bureaucracy. This freedom allows them to cut through red tape and act on there partners best interests and behalf. The NSLP also help students and families with higher education access and choice by providing loan guarantee and student loan related services to the financial aid community and the student loan industry.

Schools are usually very excited to partner with NSLP because of there personal customer service, free and time-saving products they offer, free support and technical assistance, student loan program updates, student loan delinquency and default prevention initiatives, effective and timely claim payment for lenders, and finally experience and financial strengths.
One area the NSLP works very hard at is the Default of student loans. They set a new record in 2007 by preventing $8.3 million in student loan defaults. This is a 54% increase over last year. Nearly 1,000 borrowers were saved from the painful consequences of failing to repay their loans. This unique program helps every one in the student loan program, the borrower, the school, the lender, NSLP, the federal government and the taxpayers.
There default rescue counselors works one on one with severely delinquent borrowers to help avoid default, collection costs, bad credit ratings, wage garnishment, tax refund offsets, and other consequences that could accure with a default of a loan.
Since the program began six years ago, The National Student Loan Program has saved $18.7 million in student loans and helped over 2,300 borrowers maintain a healthy credit history.
Besides working very hard to make sure there borrowers can afford the loan program they also offer an online course (free) to students to learn about finances.
National Student Loan Program’s Financial Literacy Online learning center is designed to educate students about the basics of personal money management. The student will learn about budgeting, contracts, credit, identity theft, financing there education and much more.
The courses are focused on high school students planning for college or all ready enrolled in college. However, anyone interested in learning money management skills is encouraged to complete the courses.
